State Regulations

As a result of state boards of nursing and the DOE Higher Education regulation changes, the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing will no longer be accepting applications for our distance learning MSN program from students residing in the following states:

  • Alabama, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and New York (effective as of June 25, 2012)
  • Louisiana (Nurse-Midwifery Distance Learning program only, effective as of October 17, 2012)
  • Arkansas, Maryland, and Oregon (effective as of December 18, 2012)

    I would like to know if the online FNP program you offer will qualify for the Tennessee requirements.

      Hi Robbie, thank you for your continued interest in our programs. All students need to contact their state board of nursing to confirm that upon finishing your MSN degree you will able to sit for your state certification.     I currently reside in SD, but may be moving to MN. What is the reasoning that MN residents cannot be admitted to the program?

    I understand that you are currently in the process of updating your PsychNP curriculum to meet new ANCC certification guidelines. Is there a time frame by which you will resume accepting applications? I learned from a colleague that only a Family Psych NP certification will be offered and the Adult Psych NP is being phased out. Is UC planning on offering a post MSN in Family Psych or will it be a distance-learning DNP?

    Are you accepted by your state board of nursing? I believe that is the requirement for my state BON to accept your program for me to sit for licensure in NC. I will be contacting them on Monday, but this all is very confusing to sort through.

    Hello, I am a Canadian Nurse and would like to get my Nurse Practitioner masters from United states. Is there a restriction for international students?
