Additional State Information:

  • Ohio/Kentucky County Restrictions for Adult-Gerontological Primary Care and FNP MSN Distance Learning Programs

The University of Cincinnati College of Nursing will be restricting admission applications for local students in two of our MSN Distance Learning specialty programs, Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPC-DL) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-DL). Effective March 1, 2015, we will no longer accept distance learning admission applications for the 2015 Summer term and beyond in FNP and AGPC from the following counties: Hamilton, Butler, Warren, Clermont in Ohio and Boone, Kenton, and Campbell in Kentucky. The decision to restrict admissions was in response to increased local competition for preceptors and viable regional clinical sites in primary care. Students who reside in the above counties are encouraged to apply to our onsite programs. Please refer to our website for additional information related to residential program opportunities and respective application deadlines at http://nursing.uc.edu/academic_programs.html.

I would like to know if the online FNP program you offer will qualify for the Tennessee requirements.

I understand that you are currently in the process of updating your PsychNP curriculum to meet new ANCC certification guidelines. Is there a time frame by which you will resume accepting applications? I learned from a colleague that only a Family Psych NP certification will be offered and the Adult Psych NP is being phased out. Is UC planning on offering a post MSN in Family Psych or will it be a distance-learning DNP?

    • Hi Daniel, thank you for your inquiry. We do not have a projected enrollment date at this time. Please contact an Enrollment Advisor for more details at 866-225-6764.

Are you accepted by your state board of nursing? I believe that is the requirement for my state BON to accept your program for me to sit for licensure in NC. I will be contacting them on Monday, but this all is very confusing to sort through.

    • Hi Stacie, thank you for your inquiry. An Enrollment Advisor will be happy answer any questions you have regarding this process. They can be reached at 866-225-6764.
