Nurse practitioner joins internal medicine department of new clinic

The Independent Mail has reported that Sonya Willard, a nurse practitioner from Lavonia, Georgia, will join the staff of the Toccoa Clinic. Willard recently graduated from a Georgia-based university, where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree. Prior to this, she had completed an undergraduate nursing program at the same college. According to the news source, she will provide important services to patients in the internal medicine department of the medical center.

While pursuing her advanced nursing degree, Willard was able to get some valuable experience in the medical field through a variety of prestigious internships. She completed clinical preceptor-ships in the pediatrics, internal medicine and Med Access departments of the health center that is associated with her graduate school. In addition, she worked as an RN, or registered nurse, in the intensive care unit at Stephens County Hospital, BJC Medical Center and the Madison County Health Department.

According to Dr. Jamie Rich, the attending physician of the Toccoa Clinic's internal medicine department, "Sonya brings patient care experience, solid academic credentials and a caring personality to our department."
