New York woman honored for excellency in nursing

The Genesis Group recently held its annual Regional Healthcare Recognition Awards luncheon. More than 200 people gathered at the Harts Hill Inn in Whitesboro, New York for the award ceremony, which recognized several important individuals in the healthcare industry for their contributions over their careers.

At this event, the organization announced their pick for the 2011 Outstanding Nurse Practitioner of the year. Patricia Gorman, a family nurse practitioner at Oneida Healthcare, was selected to receive this honor.

Gorman was honored for her work as a nurse practitioner with a specialty in maternal and child health. Her duties at the Oneida Healthcare Center include supervising the baby weight station, managing the primary care clinics and serving as a mentor to financially disadvantaged first-time mothers.

“Without Patty’s involvement, many of these patients would not have appropriate prenatal care and post delivery follow-up, and have poor clinical outcomes and children with higher risk for developmental problems,” said Paul Scopac, the vice president of operations at Oneida Healthcare. “She is truly an advocate for her patients.”
