I am a PNP trying to obtain prescriptive authority from the State of Indiana. I need to take a graduate pharmacology course (my course was back in 2004 for my MSN) in order to complete my application. Is your NURS 813 available to take online? Thanks so much for your time.

    • Administrator said:

Sarah, thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we do not offer classes for non-degree seeking students. You must be fully enrolled in a distance learning program in order to register for classes. An Enrollment Advisor will be happy to help you with additional questions at 866-225-6764 or info@nursingonline.uc.edu.

I am a new RN looking to probably start a graduate program in 2012 or 2013. With the conversion to a semester-based schedule will UC be offering courses during the summer term? For example, if a program takes 6 semesters will this be a 2 or 3 year program? Thanks for your help!

    • Hello Collin, we will have three semesters per year: FALL, SPRING, and SUMMER.

    • Hi l wanted to find out if the NP programs are online based only and do you allocate preceptors or does the student have to find one for themselves??? thanks

      • Esther our program is online. Students are responsible for securing their clinical site and the preceptor. Call our office and we will be glad to answer all your questions at (866) 225-6764.

this maybe a stupid question but i just want to clarify 2 things. first, does successful completion of a nurse practitioner program automatically gives the student/graduate an MSN degree? 2nd, is your NP program recognized by the California Board of registered nursing? thank you.

    • Pamela Bush said:

Hello Arlene, no question is stupid. Upon successful completion of our NP programs, students will have earned a MSN degree. Our school is regionally accredited and our nursing program is accredited by CCNE. To determine if we are recognized by the California Board of nursing, we recommend that you reach out to them directly.

I am interested in obtaining my CNS in psychiatrist and was looking for information on your program. I was wondering if there was availability to start the core classes in January 2012? Do you have a required timeframe on completion of the degree?

    • Hello Jenna, we no longer offer a Psych CNS program. Additionally our Adult Psych NP program will be suspended after Winter 2012.

      • Brooks Wiley said:

When will the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program reopen for applicants? What is the plan for this program?

        • Hi Brooks, thank you for your interest in the Psych NP program. The program is on hold and we do not have a date when it will reopen at this time. We will update the website as soon as it is. It will be revised based on changing certifications with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). We do have additional course options available that are 100% online, allowing you to log-on at a time convenient for you within the syllabus and complete clinicals in your community. Feel free to call our admissions team at (866) 225-6764.

I live in Puerto Rico and work at the Veterans Hospital. Why am I not able to enroll in the NP Program even though this is an online program. If i was living in Florida would I be able to enroll? Why or why not?

    • Hello Morena, based on the information you just provided it appears you should be eligible for admission. However, there are other factors to consider. For further clarification, please call our office at (866) 225-6764.

    Hi -
I am interested in your NP program and I had a few questions: 1) Is the program full or part time? 2) Is it online, in class or a combo of both? 3) How many years of being an RN are required (I have taught nursing for 7 years, 2 of them I worked as a PRN..not sure if this is an issue)? 4) What other prerequisites are required besides a BSN?
    Thanks,
    Lauren Jerige

    • Hi Lauren, thank you for your inquiry. I have listed answers to your questions below.

      1) This program requires a full-time coursework commitment by taking courses according to the prescribed course of study. Depending on the specialty, you will be taking 2-4 courses per term. We do want to clarify that the program can be considered part-time in financial aid terms due to the number of credit hours taken per term.
      2) This program is 100% online. Clinicals are completed in your community.
3 & 4) Please click here to view the admissions requirements.

If you have additional questions, please contact an Enrollment Advisor at (866) 225-6764 or info@nursingonline.uc.edu.

I am finding the answer to most of my questions in your
published material, but one critical question remains. Who
arranges the preceptorship for the exams? I feel strongly
that it is the responsibility of the University or College,
and this bit of information is vital to my decision.

    Thank you.

    • Hi Doreen, thank you for your inquiry. At UC, it is the student’s responsibility to secure their preceptor and clinical site. However, we do offer support with this process through a Clinical Site Coordinator. For further details, please contact an Enrollment Advisor at 866-225-6764.
