WOMEN'S HEALTH NURSE PRACTIONER DEGREE PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Those who complete the master's component of the graduate program will:

  • Demonstrate competence in advanced nursing practice with focus on nursing interventions and evaluation of outcomes for defined client systems.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and effective communication skills for advanced nursing practice as part of a multidisciplinary team within various environmental contexts.
  • Design programs for defined client systems in health promotion, maintenance, restoration and palliation within a framework of community-focused advanced nursing practice.
  • Engage in scholarly inquiry to clarify and refine nursing practice.
  • Demonstrate professional roles to make operational standards of care and to influence reasoned change in nursing practice.
  • Participate in the political process to influence health and social policy.
  • Analyze implications of legal, ethical and financial accountability from the perspective of advanced nursing practice and within various environmental contexts.
  • Exhibit a commitment to excellence in nursing practice and to advancement of the discipline of nursing.
